CHAPTER 13

Diamond called a meeting.

After the events that took place at the club, Diamond, Bucky, and Styles circled for discussion. What happened that night was a total disrespect and had to be dealt with. There was no way he could let it pass. Diamond was as egotistical as big Ballers come. What he termed as “disrespect” was only an excuse to get rid of a young hustler, who threatened him.

He’d heard a lot about Earl and after meeting him face to face, he’d come to the conclusion that Earl was no ordinary player in the game, he wasn’t someone who’d made a few moves in the street and it all worked out. This kid had the mind and potential to be great in the game, even greater than Diamond.

When Diamond came into the game, he didn’t have to muscle his way in. He didn’t have to crawl before he walked. Diamond already had money. So he never had to be a Gangster. His money bought him that. Diamond got to where he was because of who he was. Earl got to where he was in the game because of what he was (there’s a difference), and that kept Diamond up at night—made him uncomfortable.

At the meeting, the Big Three sat at a mahogany table in Diamond’s mini mansion. The only other people present were their bodyguards.

“So Diamond what are we gonna do about this shit?” Bucky pushed first.

Styles spoke. “I told you when we first heard about them that they would be trouble.”

Diamond agreed. “Yeah, and that little stunt they pulled at my club proved you were right.”

Bucky slammed his fist against the table. “Those dudes pulled guns on me. Just straight up disrespected my table. Diamond, I swear, I was two seconds from telling my crew to set the mothafucka off. But I remembered we were in your club. If it weren’t for that, they would’ve been three dead asses.”

Bucky was frontin’, putting on a show of anger after the fact to save face with Diamond and Styles. Lil Skeet had checked him and his whole crew that night, and everyone saw it. However Bucky was no push over. He and his crew were mobbing deep on the Southside of the city. Although his clique was a dangerous group, Bucky himself wasn’t as Gangster as the streets had him.

“A danger to one of us is a danger to all three of us.” Styles weighed in. “The same goes for disrespect. Those boys can’t ball on our level, and we need to make that clear before it’s too late.”

They spoke in terms of “we” and “us.” The three wanted to deal with the threat, but neither wanted to go to war alone. They found confidence in numbers.

Diamond played the head. “Vengeance has a time and place.”

“So how are we going to handle this, Diamond?” Bucky asked.

“Chill, chill. I’m waiting on Lou Lou to get back. I sent him to pick up someone.”

“Who?”

“Big Faye.”

“Big Faye? What does that fat mothafucka have to do with this? From what I hear, he’s connected to them.
